Kadi Vasthy / Greeva Vasthy / Janu Vasthy / Uro Vasthy

About This Therapy

The Vasthy therapies are a family of localised Ayurvedic heat retention treatments in which a well (or compartment) made from black gram flour dough is placed over a targeted area of the body the lower back (Kadi), neck (Greeva), knee (Janu), or chest (Uro). Warm medicated oil is pooled inside this well and maintained at a therapeutic temperature for 30 minutes, delivering deep, sustained heat and medicinal oil therapy to the specific region. These treatments are among the most effective Ayurvedic interventions for localised joint and spinal conditions.

How It Works

A ring-shaped well is shaped from freshly prepared black gram dough and sealed firmly onto the target area. Warm medicated oil is poured into this well to fill it completely, bathing the affected area in therapeutic warmth. The oil is periodically replaced to maintain consistent heat. The warmth opens the pores, relaxes the surrounding muscles, and allows the medicinal oils to penetrate deeply into the affected joints, nerves, and connective tissues.
