Pizhichil
About This Therapy
Pizhichil is a royal Ayurvedic therapy, historically reserved for kings and warriors in Kerala. Often called the "Queen of Ayurvedic Treatments," it involves the continuous pouring of large quantities of warm medicated oil over the entire body in a slow, rhythmic stream, accompanied by a synchronised gentle massage. Up to 1.5–2 litres of specially prepared herbal oil is used in a single session, making this one of the most deeply nourishing and therapeutically intensive treatments available.

How It Works
You lie on a traditional wooden therapy table (droni) while therapists simultaneously pour warm medicated oil in a precise, choreographed pattern across the body. A gentle synchronised massage is performed throughout the pouring to ensure deep penetration of the oils into the skin, muscles, and nerves. The warmth, rhythm, and quantity of oil work together to produce a uniquely profound therapeutic effect on the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
